THINGS I KNOW

I may not know a lot but I certainly do know these things:

Hugging Kaari is strange and I don't like it. she will agree with this.

I know its officially spring when the gospel preachers from the Church of Christ stand on portage avenue and play guitars and the scientologist is in the village every day also when I get sunburnt from being at the forks and I get to wear tank tops and skirts.

at any given time I will choose doing my nails and preserving my manicure over writing my minipaper no matter how late it may be.

I love to clean even if there's a lot of it to be done.

I need to clean the side walk chalk off my front porch or random strangers will think they can "come right in".

I should also clean up those balloons.

TODAY

Today I played major catch up and did homework, took a nap, did laundry and dyed a blue skirt dark navy which turned out ridiculously well. then I did my ironing and now I am sitting down to do yet more homework.

Saturday is approaching fast and I am getting really excited! and stressed! I have nothing really accomplished in terms of decorations yet, and am hoping to get to the dollar store tomorrow, before my work pot luck where I have to dress up as some animal and I am at a serious loss as to what to be (suggestions?).

I am excited to pretend living on my own for the 10 days Paul and Fraya are gone, including the 28th/29th when I have two days off school for some strange reason so it will really be like I'm on my own because, well, because! that also means that may is almost over and therefore spring session is almost over and I could not be happier. Although, its not hard to be envious when its so horrible outside.

I suppose I should really start packing things soon....

RETAIL THERAPY

I've been having a really shitty week/weekend so I decided to do some retail therapy via my stores.

I got two pairs of chiffon tights (which are actually as amazing as they sound - sheer and soft) in grey and pretty coral.

I also got these shoes today:

which look much better in real life than in this picture - the back is the best because it has metal studs and looks all industrial and tough - but they are so pretty.

also, I got this dress because its pink and reminds me of tea parties and pretty hats:

and I have wanted an Obi belt for some time, and I figured the other night was the best time to purchase said belt off EBay:

(don't tell Paul and Fraya)

now I have to do some of the mountain of reading I have to do, go to bed so I can wake up for class tomorrow, go to U of M, go to U of W, have lunch, have class, go to the village, work, come home and cry probably.

it better go fast is all I gotta say.

EDIT: I really need to start thinking up some music for this party of mine...thoughts?

today I dyed my hair to pretend, at least for a couple of minuets, that I was someone else who didn't have to do/put up with all the shit I have to deal with lately.

then I found out half of winnipeg is moving to toronto and I kinda want to die.
WHAT
THE
FUCK.

THE PERKS OF U OF M

I never thought I would say that U of Manitoba has perks, but it does:

the campus is actually really pretty, surprisingly, especially when its quiet in the Spring Session and there's less people roaming around in sweatpants and hoodies.

there is a Starbucks on campus. enough said.

no creepy men follow you down the street and stand too close to you while smoking while you pretend to ignore them while listening to your iPod. that being said, there's no homeless people/begging people/crazies there and it kinda takes away from the fun.

my professor is so funny and I think I want to meet his children so see if they really are as awesome as he says they are. he is also from Kenora. enough said.

Student central is basically its own city: a florist, an optician, a hair-cutting place, a robins doughnuts, tim hortons, general store, and I think even a Subway. also, the book store is kind of the most beautiful place on earth.

all this accounted, I drove today and hardcore got lost and was too scared to ask for help (I can do this in Europe, but not at U of M) and have vowed to never drive and park there again, because I am scared.

tomorrow I am going to try and find a book in the Library...wish me luck.

REASONS I LOVE CARNATIONS (FROM SUSHI RESTRAINTS)

and in general....

they last forever.

they come in the best colours.

they're pleasant smelling.

they look pretty.

they look pretty when they're cut really short and put in a tea cup.

they make me smile and they last longer than lilacs which aren't out yet.

RAMAYANA

so, I'm not sure what supposed to go down in normal reading class meetings, but today was slightly awkward when my professor started to describe a scene from 9 1/2 weeks (the one with the refrigerator...) and talk about the Kama Sutra and what he preferred to do after sex (eat food, apparently). Also the conversation included the explanation that (something along these lines) a monkey, chandelier and 3 lbs. of whip cream is "not as fun as it sounds".  It was truly all in the context of the epic, the book we were reading was fairly focused on the dichotomy between sensuality/sexuality and daemons/evilness. there was also a correlation between food and sex.

I have the strangest education ever.

SPRING

today was the first nice day out yet. so nice that I wore a dress to work and biked with Estelle (I did not wear my helmet, contrary to the fact that I said I did to appease P&F - also I told them I did to stop the questions, oh the questions).

then after work I went for sushi with Przemek and his pretty new boyfriend Travis and Shar. Then I biked home with carnations in my hair and smiled because it was a magical time.

tomorrow I have to go to U of M for my french class and I want to die, basically.

here is a picture of me after my bike ride on the first day of spring, in my opinion:
